The city of Pardubice is associated with the most famous Czech aviator and aircraft engineer who achieved fame for ground-breaking long-haul flights. The legendary figure is Ing. Jan Kašpar.
Few decades have passed since the early years of aviation, however, aviation in Pardubice has been maintained and extended. In 1911, when the famous flight of Jan Kašpar took place from Pardubice to Velká Chuchle, nobody thought that almost one hundred years later Pardubice airport will handle over 184 000 passengers per year.
